Strakes/Chines sit on top of trailer bunks

I have a 1997 Mariah 252 Shabah. The trailer was not original to the boat. I knew that when I purchased, but did not realize until my first launch that the strakes/chines are riding on top of the wooden bunk as opposed to in between them when re-trailering. Was curious if this is an issue in regards to potential damage to the fiberglass strakes/chines, or if it will be ok without trying to reposition the bunks. I do see alot of boats/trailers that this occurs. Thanks for any feedback.

Re: Strakes/Chines sit on top of trailer bunks

Sitting on the strakes is probably not going to cause a problem for short term trailering. But if it sits for long periods of time you really want the load spread across the hull rather than a concentrated point load. The point load could slightly change the shape of the hull and decrease efficiency. Similarly, for trailering across rough roads, you want the load spread so it won't damage the hull.
I would recommend you adjust your trailer bunks to fit the boat properly.
