Trailer Spare Tire Location

I want to mount a spare tire on the boat trailer. Trailer doesn't have room for spare under front of bow of boat. What side of trailer is best to install spare tire mount, starboard or port? I can change the location of the wench to either side of trailer.

If you've got room, i'd get one of these and mount it on the side between your coupler and the winch stand. That's what I've done. Most all the trailers I've seen mount them on the starboard side.

I picked this one up at Bass Pro shops for about $30.

Indeed, that is where mine is installed as well, on that location it is not in the way when using your winch.

Cheers,

Johan

I suggest starboard so that when you are pulled over on the right side of the road (assuming you are in the U.S.) you will be accessing the spare from the curb.

Re: Trailer Spare Tire Location

This style of mount also serves as a step up to the bow of the boat (my wife gets in the boat from here when its on the trailer)
