SC21 engine compartment gas shocks

Hello, I have been doing some preventative maintainence on my '04 SC21 by re-securing the big hatch that covers the engine. The screws were falling out of the piano hinge and a good number of them were striped out. Well come to find out there are suppose to be gas shocks that hold the hatch up. I found this out via internet pictures since my boat did not have these on it when I bought it a few months ago.
My question involves the gas shocks and their length and strength. I have been searching and cant seem to find the answer. Seems a few boat run with the Nautilift GS62800 shocks. Im sure they can be made to fit the SC21 but Id rather ask first to see if someone on here has an idea or model # that would help. thanks!

I just replaced both of mine, and bought them at advance auto parts with part nr 4194 16112. They were about 50.00 each......

Ebay usually has good deals on them too, if you want to go that route! Just search by the Nautalift model number. That's where I got mine, I think they were around $30 each, and then the brackets are maybe $5-10, or sometimes included.

Just make sure when you mount the brackets, (when mounting into the fiberglass) to make use of a backing plate and some locking nuts behind the mount for strength.

I called Advanced and gave them the part number to see if they had them in stock. He could not find these part numbers nor could I online. Is this a number printed on the shock or something I can read if I go to Advanced and look at the shocks? Thanks

Re: SC21 engine compartment gas shocks

if you visit the advance auto parts site, just search for d4194
It is a gas shock lift support made by strong arm....and the part on the actual piece is 4194 16112.
here is the link where I found it. I had to jump in my car and go to the advance store and luckily the clerk remembered me and found the shocks....

I'm wondering if these will work on my 94 Z212. I have only one - the original electric (which is working) and the other one is missing, still have the wire there somwhere. did you have to buy brackets also?

I did have to buy the brackets. I mounted them from inside the compartment to make sure the closed length of the shock would fit. (only because I had no idea where the originals were since it had new upholstery)
