Default Todd Marine seat pedestals

Hello there great site and finding the advice helpful!

need some help!

Bought a 2007 SC23 last year and i am having a problem with the port side seat.

The support for the seat is a Todd Marine pedestal. The tube has become loose in the baseplate and the seat is swivelling whilst underway. Cant get it tightened nor can I get screws in baseplate out as they just keep turning in their socket.

Is the end of the tube threaded and should tighten?

Can the pedestal be easily replaced (seen them on todd Marines website)?

Or is there another easy and inexpensive fix?

Has anyone had this problem before and come up with a fix?

Cheers!

    Hi billy b,

Our '96 Mariah seat posts are held firm in the base plate by a set screw accessed from the base's underside.

I'm not familiar with the "new" Mariah construction, but spinning bolts normally indicate stripped threads or broken "T" nuts or what ever type of fastener they used. Either way, you may be forced to cut or drill the bolts out.

You may want to contact SeaFox/Mariah for assistance at (843) 761 - 6090.

    Good luck,
    WetWilly

    Thanks Wet willy.

think i am going to have to contact sea fox, problem is that i cant get access to underside of cockpit floor all seems to be in one piece. Might be an engine and fuel tank out job and still dont think i would be able to reach the seat base from engine bay.

Wierd construction! or else I am missing something simple.

    All the best

Got a reply from sea fox re the seat. Just in case anyone out there is having the same problem.

The seating is installed as a permanent fixture on the boat's deck and is very difficult to removed. The pedestal is through-bolted before the boat is capped and to access those bolts you will need to drill an access plate or hatch on your floor.

I have only heard of an issue like the one you described one other time. In that instance, it was a boat sold locally and we worked with Todd to have the post welded to the floor mount pedestal.

Looks like another task for the winter layup as I dont fancy welding when the boat is fueled and afloat!!
