Rattle from engine
Well thats the boating season about over for this year in Scotland, its almost been a total washout with only a few dry weekends to go out and play. Most of the boats here which are moored in inland lochs(lakes) come out this or next weekend so not a lot of time left to play:mad: BUT my 2004 sx18 with a mercriuser 3L has developed an awfull rattle it started about 40mph but now rattles about 25mph I dont have a clue about engines but know a few guys who do but I would like a few pointers if anyone has any suggestions they are most welcome:wink_thumbup:

Re: Rattle from engine
Hi Andy, The first thought to come to mind is rod knock (bad crank bearing), but I would like to get a little more information first... Can you isolate the rattle to a particular area of the motor:
Also, are we sure the sound is coming from the motor and not:
Lastly, have you checked your motor's oil level and oil pressure lately? WetWilly |
Re: Rattle from engine
Hey weywilly, sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I left my keys with the guy at the boat yard who passed them on to the local boat repair guy who has stopped the rattle:worry_to_laugh: dont know what it was yet(or how much for the repair) but as son as I know what it was I will let you know..:wink_thumbup:
