Hi this is my Mariah that I have recently purchased it has a 3.0tks mercruiser engine. Can't wait to get out on it when the weather breaks next year, is there anything anyone can recommend looking for as this has been kept on fresh water and will now be used in salt water

Thanks

Richard

Nice looking rig! I don't have much experience with my own boats in saltwater. However, the guides I have fished with in Florida and Bahamas all do lots of rinsing and washing. Washing down the boat after use adds years to the life of their boat. These guys should know so you might think about running fresh water in the muffs but also rinsing the Outdrive and any external parts. The other thing to consider is your trailer. I have a friend that pulls a boat to Louisiana frequently and the saltwater has just about taken all the paint off his trailer. Yikes!

This will be kept in the marina so trailer not an issue , this will be my first inboard boat so was wondering what's the best way of looking after your engine if using in salt water? Or just change the oil regular and once out flush through with fresh water

Check your anodes. Fresh water boats use magnesium anodes while pure salt water boats use zinc anodes. Boats used in brackish water use aluminum anodes.
