Default Prop ?

Have 198 with 4.3 that has the stock 19 aluminum prop I came across a 19 high five for a decent price would I lose some top end and gain home shot. ?

    Yes & yes. You will also increase your WOT rpms so you will have to be a bit careful running at top end.

    Increase WOT or decrease? Adding blades lowers RPM I thought.

    I think if your 4.3 runs well with that 19p 3 blade would be looking at a 17p 4 blade. That is if you are looking for more hole shot. Then again, just my experience.

    Sorry, its been a long day at work already and apparently i was 'befuddled' when i wrote that response. You are both correct in that your rpms should drop (by approx 100-150) with the 4 or 5 blade if you have two identical props to compare.

    I believe there are a couple of members here who run the hi-5 prop with mixed results. More blades = more bite but the hi-5, like most 5 blade props, are kind of a specialty item for things like waterskiing etc where precise speed control at lower rpms is needed. Ideally, if you want a little more bite w/out sacrificing much off the top speed then i would suggest an 18" pitch 4 blade SS prop such as a Michigan Wheel Apollo or something similar.
