Re: Prop ?
Yes & yes. You will also increase your WOT rpms so you will have to be a bit careful running at top end.

I thought so too? Would depend on dia. Of prop too I would assume.

Re: Prop ?
I think if your 4.3 runs well with that 19p 3 blade would be looking at a 17p 4 blade. That is if you are looking for more hole shot. Then again, just my experience.

Re: Prop ?
Sorry, its been a long day at work already and apparently i was 'befuddled' when i wrote that response. You are both correct in that your rpms should drop (by approx 100-150) with the 4 or 5 blade if you have two identical props to compare.
I believe there are a couple of members here who run the hi-5 prop with mixed results. More blades = more bite but the hi-5, like most 5 blade props, are kind of a specialty item for things like waterskiing etc where precise speed control at lower rpms is needed. Ideally, if you want a little more bite w/out sacrificing much off the top speed then i would suggest an 18" pitch 4 blade SS prop such as a Michigan Wheel Apollo or something similar. |
