Default Variable Pitch prop

Hello All,
Been a while sinse I posted on here but thought I would solicit your opinions on the Land & Sea Variable Pitch prop. My stock aluminum prop has some damage and requires replacement and I have a chance to buy a 'slightly' used variable pitch for about the same price as a used stainless.

Anyone have experience with these props?

This is for a 2000 Shabah 202 with the 5.0l Alpha

Thanks in advance and I look forward to your feedback.

    Default Re: Variable Pitch prop

I dont know a lot about them but..... i do know that they are expensive to repair, hard to find parts for and are manually adjustable. I understand that "Land & Sea" no longer produces the variable (read torque shift) prop and has no plans on re-introducing them because of the costs. I've read mixed reviews on them as far as performance goes. Some really like them & some seem to be bothered by the 'clunk' when it shifts. I also read a post once stating you had to be careful when pulling wake-boarders or skiiers because of that sudden shift. And while i dont have anything to support this.... i would think that they put some extra strain on the prop shaft & gearing when the shift occurs.

Here's a link to the website of the person who bought up the parts & rights to the Land & Sea prop. I'm not sure if he is still in business (i've heard that he hasn't been responding to emails over the last few months) but everything you ever wanted to know about a torque shift prop is here.
