What Pitch Prop?

Hey there, Question is what is the pitch on the prop for a 1992 Mariah Shabah 198Z with the 350 magnum,, the reason I am asking is,, welll ..:rolling_laugh: Well the last of the problems came to me today as I tried to plane the boat and almost hit redline at about 5 mph,, I asssume a spun hub in the stainless prop. I am going to go aluminum for reasons of I am not looking to win a race.. I will most likely have the stainless prop reconditioned and kept as a spare. I use the boat mostly in a shallow bay area and the chance of hitting something is very real. Thanks in advance!!

Re: What Pitch Prop?

I'd try replacing the hub on the stainless first. The flow-torq hub on merc props is replaceable.
I have a similar sized boat and power package. I run a stainless 3 blade 14x21P. It gives me very good all around performance. My backup is an aluminum of the same spec. Where I run I have little fear of hitting bottom!

Re: What Pitch Prop?

some of the ss props can be replaced with a hub kit after the rubber is pressed out. some.. also if you are going to a aluminum go to a 4 blade with one pitch up . 19p ss then 20 aluminum. just remember you should be able to trim the boat more as the 4 bllade will keep the bow down.
