Default Prop selection

Just purchased a 1995 Talari 180 with a Mercruiser 4.3L engine. The boat came with a 21 pitch prop that is in rough condition, so I was going to replace it. For those with a similar boat, what pitch prop have you found to be the best. I am looking for power to pull up skiers and am not too concerned with top end speed. Thanks for your input.

Drop to a 19" pitch - 3 blade or a 20" - 4 blade and it will handle your needs on that boat.

I concurr. I have a 19" on my Talari 180 and my brother-in-law had a 21" on his Barchetta 180. Both Stillettor props on identical hulls (at least the bottom half) and same engines. He was a few miles per hour faster, but I preferred the acceleration of my boat.

i have a 350. i was running a 4 blade alum. 14 x 20. i was getting about 46 mph at about 4600 rpm. it poped out of the hole very good. i just put on a ss 14.25 x 21 3 blade. it gets 50 mph at 4200 rpm. it runs faster at lower rpms at cost of the hole shot which sucks now.
