Mariah Davanti 2210 prop

Hi folks
I have recently boiught this boat and it needs a new prop. The one on it is E3-15-17R and it is very quick to get on the plane but it revs quite high also. The boat has a 5l Volvo Penta with a SX Drive. Would I be better moving to a 19 or 21 pitch prop for cruising? any advice would be apprecaited

Thanks

hi Joycee

Ideally we would like to know what your rpm's are at WOT (wide open throttle) with the existing prop to give you an accurate reply on what pitch you should consider but...i would suspect a move to a 19" prop would likely solve your problems. Ideally you want to stay right around 4800rpms at WOT for maximum efficiency assuming you have a 5.0GL motor and 5000rpms if you have a 5.0GXi. Each inch of pitch increase will lower your rpms by 200 all else being equal.

Hey Mikey-I'm going to my mechanic tomorrow night to try a 21p High Five. Currently I have an 18 pitch 4 blade Stilleto. The RPM's are too high (pops right out of the water though). My 5.0 litre LX has a 1.65 final drive for some reason instead of a 1.5. What do you know about the High Five? I'm driving quite a ways to check it out. He thinks this will bring my RPM's down, increase my speed, and maintain a good hole shot.

hi Danny

I dont know a lot about the High 5 but there have been a couple of others here who tried it and reported good results. That 5 blade will give lots of 'bite' and the 21" pitch should lower your rpms & give you a higher top speed. They are pricey when new though....
