Mine is a pro-tec prop I believe. Local prop shop says pattern perfect knock off of the Mercury Marine Alpha 4 which he would normally sell me but apparently can't get any of right now.

I moved back to my original SS 4 blade 14.25 x 17P to get 47 MPH GPS at about 5000 ft elevation. I can pop a 230lbs skiier right out of the water with 6 people in the boat with the 17P. Installed the smart tabs at the start of the month and tossed the whale tail in the trash. I was just shocked by the poor performance of the 19P based on all of your comments. I bought the boat in May and do not know the gear ratio, but would my elevation make that much difference?

Interesting that you didn't like the 19p but I'm not surprised since most places say for ever 1000 ft go a degree down (https://www.acepropeller.com/high-al...r-performance/) so from me at 1400 ft to you at 5000 that'd be 3-4 degrees back. If you love the 17p I'll be pretty close to the same performance on a 20. AFAIK the Alpha1 Gen2's are all looking at the 1.47ratio.

This by the way is a good point, we should add the elevation we're at when swapping "What works for me" prop discussion less someone assume we're all at sea level.

My other option is a 4x18* but the shop is afraid I'll over-rev pretty easily. They said if I didn't like the 20 and don't damage it obviously I can come swap for the 18 and try it.

Good point! To clarify, my lake at full pool is 1071 ft. I was running a stock 3 blade 21p aluminum with decent all around results but after adding accessories (weight) to the boat i wanted performance back.

Well I am very happy with the 20p 4 blade. Up and out much faster. 47mph top speed @4800rpm with a full tank. On plane longer. Trim is actually useful now too.

Very positive change overall so glad I did it.
