Default JL press fab 8's

JL Audio CP208LG-W3v3 MicroSub™ slot-ported enclosure with dual 8" W3v3 subwoofers at Crutchfield.com

Threw a set of these in the Shabah 250 a few days ago. I wouldn't judge this pair of 8's by the fact they are merely 8" sub's. They hammer louder than my buddies WetSounds 12 in a wake boat. They play some mean tones off the KX400.1 amp I have powering them. Its not over whelming bass and they fit in the port compartment. Food for thought...

Hey moto do you have some pictures? I don't think I have the cash so I may have to settle for a lesser speaker but the sub I want to use is a JL Audio w 7 Series. The w 7 series subs are the sickest subs I have ever installed. One 8 inch w7 will pound like 2 10 inch regular subs. I would like to see where you put your speakers

I'll get a photo up. Have not had her out since this post.
I was contemplating a marine grade Kicker 10 in a sealed box for 160$ but I walked into the sound shop and heard these 8's. I paid $400 for these JLs, they were on sale. A little more then I wanted to spend but I all ready had the amp and wiring.

As for the W series I've been a fan for some time.

Just out of curiosity moto, how does bass translate on a boat. In other words does what sounds good in a car, also work on a boat?

I have a bunch of speaker cord from the amp to the box. I've moved the box from engine compartment to cuddy to common area. In the compartment basically killed any "punch" of bass but the tone was still there. In the cuddy it was pretty good with the door open. Only problem with it in the cuddy was the vibration it caused. Seemed like every little rivet and metal object wanted to make noise! Inside the common area seemed to sound best. I'm sure putting sub's in the bench seat would really sound awesome I just don't want to lose the storage.
In regards to sound transfer: it is not the same kind of bass my solobaric L7 pumps out in my truck. Its more mild and the lows don't go as low. I'm guessing its due to the amount of air space and the fact they are 8's. They do what I want though. Play a full range of bass and are not obnoxious "boom" sounding.

What's the point of having a sub that's not obnoxious moto?? Lol. .I know what you mean. I have thought about using the rear bench but haven't for the same reasons. I'm.shoreline will end up under the dash. I'll probably use the mid line Kenwood from best buy. Believe it or not in a correctly built ported box they actually sound pretty good. And at what they cost I wouldn't be real upset if they got ruined. Its either that or shell out the bucks for a jl audio10 w7... Can't wait to see.pics moto!!

Obnoxious meaning quality over a loud mess! That's my experience with band pass boxes. They just go boom and the rest sounds blah! I'll get some photo tomorrow. I'll have been at work 48 hrs by 7am. I'll be ready for some lake time!
