Well...........I guess you can run whatever you want. But it's rated at 300 HP.

I appreciate the input from you guys. i doubt the 383 will make a ton of hp but i was not for sure about the lower unit. just dont want to tear anything else up. as far as the drive shower, does anyone have a link to one that will fit the alpha. or will they interchange. that looks like a lifesaver

The reason I would be excited for the 383 would be the extra grunt off the bottom for getting a skier or a tube going. The 83 won't make that much more HP but will bring the torque curve in at a lot lower rpm and make it a nice broad, flat one.

over the weekend i replaced the flywheel, starter and changed the oil. started right up with no issues as of now. ready for lake test hopefully my next day off. I am however still going forward with building a 383 to install later this year. eagle 383 crank from kmj performance $198, its mine! cant make up my mind if i should spend the money on a set of h beam rods or not.......thinking maybe i should. no need to cheap out!

H beam rods are very heavy and overkill for what you want to do. Spend your money on something else. Nice intake, carb, etc. If I were to buy a rod for that I'd do the eagle 6" I beams. H beam are made for nitrous, supercharged, etc.
