Default Power Trim Pump Advice Needed

I'm new to this site and this is my first post, so please bear with me. I just purchased a 1996 Mariah Talari 201, that is in need of some TLC. It appears to be pretty much in tack, but just needs a lot of elbow grease to make her look good and some re-upholstery. The only thing that I see (at this point), that does not look right, is how the trim pump, reservoir and solenoid are mounted. If there is anyone out there that could take some pics of the way that they are supposed to be mounted, I would sure be appreciative. Thanks, Tom

Thanks for the welcome. My boat has a 5.7L Mercruiser Alpha One drive. As I said in the first post, it appears to be very much in tack, with the exception of the trim pump/reservoir and the solenoid. I haven't taken any pictures, yet, but I noticed that the solenoid was just dangling from the wires that are attached to it and there doesn't appear to be a place that is evident where it was mounted. The trim pump/reservoir appears to have been re-mounted with a homemade aluminum "L" bracket, to the floor on the port side of the engine. I have no problem in making a new bracket and mounting the solenoid and trim pump/reservoir to it, but I would like to try and duplicate what came from the factory, in order to keep it as stock as possible. The boat has a lot of potential, it just needs a lot of TLC. Again, thanks for the reply. I will take some pics and post them as soon as I can. I'm in the process of changing the fuel pump and servicing the engine/drive. I've owned several boats, in the past, but it's been a while since we've had one. We live around two beautiful lakes in the mountains of northeast Georgia, and we're looking forward to some fun times on the water.

Sounds like your original bracket rusted away as mine did. I replaced the original rusted painted steel bracket with one made of stainless steel. you can buy them anywhere. I bought mine on eBay.Mercruiser Stainless Steel Trim Pump Bracket 862548A1 | eBay

Thanks, Hudson River Steve. That's exactly what I need. I wondered where the rusty pieces came from, when I started cleaning the engine compartment. I just assumed that a boat manufacturer would not use regular steel for mounting something like that. Oh well, you know what they say about the word "Assume". Again, thanks for steering me in the right direction. Much appreciated.

I, too, am needing to replace the power trim mounting bracket. I called a dealership, who wanted $135 for a replacement bracket, of the painted steel variety. There seem to be several different designs of aftermarket brackets, including the one posted by Hudson River Steve, and also some that seem to be more of the homemade variety being sold on ebay. It seems that the OEM part number that keeps coming up is 862548A-1. Does anyone know if that is accurate, and if that is the standard mounting bracket for multiple applications? I have a 1996 Mariah Shabah 180 with the 4.3 sterndrive. Thanks,Jason

Probably. Did you ask your dealer what the part# was? Here's link to less expensive brackets at iboats.com
