Default Almost time!!!!

Well, it's almost that time here in the deep south to start looking at De-Winterizing and upgrading. So, with that in mind I have ordered for the lighting aspect 4 red LED strips,2 red/white led cabin courtesy lights, 4 led lit chrome cup holders and a Seasense flush mount telescoping anchor light. I have on the way for sound 4 JL 7.7M's, 1 JL 10M and a Alpine PDX-5M with 2 group 31 Optima batteries and a Perko switch. New towing/mooring cover is already on and looks good and functions well for less than $300. Once everything is in oil, oil filter, fuel, fuel filters and flushing the out drive again she'll be ready for mid-March fun. Pics to come soon of the finished... for now version.

I am where you are with upgrading things right now. I have done a lot of general maintenance to bring the vessel up to speed for spring time. Lots of new things. I set aside around 2k for putting into the boat and so far Ive done really good. I think I will have enough left over to do a stereo too. Some sort of a blue tooth capable head unit, and 4 rockford M282 with a rockford T600 amp. Im on the fence about buying a new prop. Mine is being service now. I want a little more speed. I think money will go there opposed to stereo

Moto: Just a FYI, ALL manufacturers of marine grade audio send their products to JL for testing. JL has lead the way in UV, salt and water resistance in the marine field and have the best product on the market, arguably. It cost more but will last longer, you get what you pay for. I'm not downing any other product or opinions about others, it's just the facts. I have done months of research.

Good to know. I'm not loyal to one particular brand. Just kinda went with the idea of M282 because I've heard them and they look soild. I wanted to go for DC GOLD but 400$ a pair is a lot... I'll look into JL. I have not been looking into marine grade aside from the speakers which are in direct sunlight. Our climate here is insanely dry, moisture damage is really not an issue.

I like the 7.7 component set. Ill think my money will be better spent with those speakers for sure. Glad you brought them up. As for a head unit what are you using?

After looking around some more I think I found a set I want to get. Just one pair is good for now. Seeing as I have a 2 channel the will power these just fine. I will have to modify the dimensions of the current hole but Im thinking itd be worth it. Any experience with these?

    Marine Audio - Component & Coaxial Systems - M-Series - Cockpit Coaxial Systems - 8.8 inch Systems

I will add to the stereo as needed. I would like two smaller coax or components in the rear of the vessel but for now these 8.8'' should cover the bases.

I did read into them. Very impressive! But it is saying they are not designed for 5'-10' but are designed for out to 80'. Like a mega phone. I am putting these inside the main area of the boat. I'm looking for top notch sound throughout the range an with these I should not have to buy subs. At least not this summer.
On a side note- off of measurements I got I can fit 8" subs inside the port an starboard walls aiming the ports of the boxes down. Wouldn't loose any storage space by tucking them up inside. Some thin truck box 10" might fit but not a fan of the slim subs.
