Great job Steve! I have the same question(s) as WetWilly - does the platform come with all necessary hardware? Did you need to create the brackets yourself? What material were those shims?

I'll do a "how to" on this as well. Thanks for the info!

S.L.P. 05-13-2008 09:05 PM

indykoch,
Most all the hardware came with the platform. BTW, the platform had to be shipped to a business address, for trucking. Its HEAVY.
I had to get longer ss screws to go thru the thickness of the shim pads I installed. Had to add the pads below the platform to avoid the body line of the hull. The shims are similar to material used as a cutting board. They were cut on my chop saw and predrilled for the screws. You can get 'em at the Depot. Some shims are supplied. I used the same material inside the transom as a backing plate. The angle brackets were also supplied. I bent them in the vise to match the jig. The ss support brackets are supplied. You just have to locate them in your application. My brackets were not installed plumb(vertical) to avoid the outdrive or transom cutouts. Additional brackets are available if you think there may ever be several kegs located on the thing, one nevers knows. Two brackets make it real sturdy. If ever I do it again, I will locate the platform 1/16" from the transom, makes for a cleaner seal.
The most difficult thing is drillin' holes in your hull! It just don't seem right.

94 Talari Swim Platform

Saw your add for the extended deck on our Mariah owners web site. They are exactly what i was looking for. My kids hit her arm on the outdrive and it looks like this would do the trick. I noticed that you have an application for the year and make of my boat. Would it be possible to send me any information and pricing/W shipping on this unit?

Sincerely,

Brian S. Petresky
Here's their response:

Hi Brian,

Thank you for your time and interest in our platforms.

Our Mariah 220 platform is a top mount, meaning it will go over your existing platform

We have attached pictures of our 220 Talari extended platform.

We hope you’ll agree this compliments the boat, and makes a great addition.

Just the safety factor makes an extended platform a ‘must have’, on your list.

The platform will add a couple of feet to the length of the boat

Our 220 Talari platform is constructed of fiberglass with a gel coat finish, similar to your boat construction.

For safety, the top surface has a small ' diamond pattern non skid, molded into the gel coat.

A heavy rubber molding (your choice of white or black), trims the bottom edge, for a nice look.

This helps to ease those boating 'bumps' too.

This platform comes with a under mount, telescoping triple step stainless steel ladder.

The simple one handed operation, makes the ladder a breeze to use and stow, leaving the top surface clear and clean.

The steps are extra wide, measuring 2 ¼", and the bottom step is 39" from the top of the platform!

You'll be spoiled by this new "two tube" 3 step design.

Your old ladder is removed. .

We install an oval port in the platform, allowing air and water pressure to transfer thru.

The oval port can also be used as a grab handle while using the long boarding ladder.

This eliminates the need for a grab handle, a possible tripping hazard.

We supply 2 stainless steel down rod supports for the aft end of the platform for added stability.

The underside of the platform has an easy to keep clean, gel coated surface.

We supply stainless steel mounting hardware and installation guidelines.

The installation can be done in under half a day with a couple people.

You'll need to supply a tube of caulking. We recommend using 3m 4200 " fast cure", if launching the next day.

70% of our platforms are owner installed and some use a local dealer or boat yard.

We offer a one year warranty for workmanship and materials.

Platform package is $ 1345.

Wood shipping crate and packing material is $ 92.

Current freight (fob Phoenix, AZ) to a business at zip code 18018 is estimated at $ 257.

Delivering to a residential address is $ 63 more.

We do not charge sale tax for out of state delivery.

The platform weighs approximately 90 pounds.

Shipping weight is about 275 pounds, due to the crate and packing materials.

You will need to be able to off load it from truck.

We do not charge you until close to shipping.

We accept MasterCard, Visa and checks.

Due to the unstable material and transportation costs,

the platform package quote is good for 30 days.

Our current lead time is about 1 - 2 weeks.

Since no deposit is required, it makes ordering easy.

We only build swim platforms and we’re serious about this business!

We would like to earn your business.

From the safety aspect, the added value and enjoyment, and our quality,

it’s a purchase never regretted.

You may call us at...602-431-8225 or Reply to this Email,

if you have any questions or you would like to place an order.

Thank you for your time and inquiry,

Paul

94 Talari Swim Platform update

Another response from www.swimplatforms.com regarding the transom cooler:

Quote:

Hi Brian,

The one solution for your accessing your cooler would take a good local fiberglass person. They would need to cut a square/rectangle (with rounded corners) in the new platform in the area where the cooler is located. The cut out square/rectangle then could be turned into a hinged lid for the cooler. This might cost you a arm and a leg unless you know someone.

Thanks Brian,

Paul and the crew at www.swimplatforms.com

Hi Brian,

Been following this thread with a lot of interest as we have a Z240 and the back of our Talari looks the same as your photos, right down to the trim tabs and I agree with the locker issue, we wouldn't want to lose ours either! :shakehead:

So, if you do cut a hole in the new swim platform, will this affect the warranty at all

swim platform

Hi
I cant see paying all this cash to cut a hole into it and then refab and not have it look like an after thought. I think they should have thought of this in their design. The platform looks really nice and we think it would be a nice addition but we have decided against it due to the cooler overlay.
I could put this cash towards any reapirs i may need over the winter as i seem to loose drive oil and someone on here thinks it may be gathering in the bellows as maybe the seal has perished.
Anyway we cant say enough of how much we are happy with the mariah and its looks for a 94. We fortunately have been out every fri and sat in the month of july and no one is tired of it yet.
Thanks for responding
Take care and safe boating
Brian

Re: Project - Swim Platform Addition

I know this thread has been going for a while but, I ordered a platform from them last week and it is shipping this week so it looks like they have added on some help, or maybe the summer is just a little slower for them. I had a color match done so I am doing two tone to match my color scheme. They did not have Sable and IVORY on file, so I had to send them color samples. Good news is that they should now have them on file for future mariah owners. I will post pics when I get it installed.

Re: Project - Swim Platform Addition

Hi Kylebsu, that's good news indeed!

Are you going to do the installation yourself? I ask because, it would be great to have pictures of the installation from beginning to end if possible.

Thanks,
WetWilly

Re: Project - Swim Platform Addition

Hey WW - why don't you just tell everyone that I didn't do what I said I would!!!! :worry_to_laugh:

Yeah, sorry about my lack of pics and write-up. The wife went out of town that weekend with our camera and I was way too antsy to get the platform on. Besides that - I probably had too many beers during the install to figure out how to use the camera if I even had it!

Re: Project - Swim Platform Addition

Hey WW... No, I am going to have my local shop install it. I am great when it comes to electronics, but drilling holes that close to the water line is a little out of my comfort zone. Also, I am going to have my old swim ladder taken off and have the holes filled.

Does anyone have one of these swimsteps on their "JUBILEE" and have photos to share ????

Peace Vic
