New Stereo Project

Okay, I got the "go ahead" from the co-captain to upgrade my sound system in the boat. I have a decent stereo however, very plain speakers and that is all. I'm looking to add newer speakers to already existing holes and amp and possibly a sub woofer. The caveat here is that I'm on a pretty tight (read small) budget, $300-$400.

So, I know precious little about sound systems and not sure what would give my the best bang for my buck. I'm really not into blowing anyone's ear drums out just enough quality sound while driving and of course lounging. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Craig

Check Amazon on prices too. I have seen many times lately where some marine products were priced best there.

The Polk db series are nice & quite reasonably priced. Adding a small powered sub i think would give you decent all around sound.

Thanks guys. Currently I have four, I believe, 6 inch speakers in the cockpit and I really don't want to drill any more holes. However, to add a sub as Mikey suggests I might have to some where. I did read where someone had added one beside the engine compartment. So that is always an option. I'll take a look at those Polks later tonight. Thanks for the quick reponces fellas. I'll keep you updated. Craig.

Just an update here. I walked into a stereo shop in MT, just out of curiosity to see what they could do and low and behold an old student of mine was working there and sold me a nice set up with a nice discount.:wink_thumbup:. So I got a Kenwood amp and four Kenwood speakers and got it installed over the weekend (a quality learning experience). Got it out on the water a couple of days ago and it is exactly what I needed. So, thanks for the help guys.

By the way I saw the only other Mariah owner in Wyoming on our local lake, nice '96 Shabah.
