Allright gang.I need some help.I want to upgrade the speakers on my 212 Z.It currently has 4 sony 6.5" 2-ways with a sony marine deck.I want more punch.I thought I would add an amp but nothing extravagant.
Question; Do I add 6 by 9s in the back?If so,who's are best?I really don't want to go the route of a sub,just good speakers.

I'm not really a stereo person but i do know that you want to use marine speakers and a marine amp. I went with 6.5" Polk speakers all around in my set up and I dont have a sub installed.

I'm surprised none of our stereo guys have chimed in yet. Have a look thru the thread about subwoofer installation here as the guys get into speakers/amps/stereos also.

I took out my stock JVC deck and replaced it with a Sony Marine deck. I also ditched the crappy stock speakers and installed 4, 6 1/2" kicker marine speakers. This set up sounds better then stock but still needs more power when under way. Check out Sony's 60X4 marine amplifier (below). This is what I'm planning on getting soon. You can also find this amp cheaper at other spots on the net.

You can add 6X9's if you want too. But if your 6 1/2's are good quality then you should be more then happy with them once you add the amp.

I'm having to do stereo work soon. My deck is dieing and Im gonna get the Sony Marine CDXm30.

I have Eclipse 5.5s in mine. I originally got the Alpine 6.5 marines, but they did not fit the holes I due to the curves in the back I did not want to make the holes bigger...

More punch? I would say, you need more power and speakers that can handle it. So, first thing, get an amp.
