sticky actuators
No this is not a STD. I have engine cover actuators that seem to be sticking. Sometimes they work sometimes they don't. What is up and how do I fix them. They have small magnets inside and they must be sticking. Are they hard to fix. I do not want to spend 700 for a new set. Help Please.:wink_thumbup:

Re: sticky actuators
Hey there, are you talking about the electric rams that lift the hatch? I just pulled mine apart and may have some help if these are what you are talking about. They are quite easy to disasemble and usually need some cleaning and grease.

Re: sticky actuators
First thing you need to do is take apart and clean all of the electrical connections since most of the time thats where the problem is. Just the slightest bit of corrosion can affect their operation. Then, if that doesn't resolve the problem, follow ggrims advice regarding taking apart the actuators themselves.

Re: sticky actuators
As with MikeyT said, take it apart. There are two nuts that you need to remove as with the plastic nut around the wire leads. Dot ply the top off as the seals wont let it happen, put a rod or screwdriver thru where the support pin goes thru and step on both sides of the rod/screwdriver. Steadily pull on the ram and it will pop apart, you will be surprised on how simple the whole lift is. its a small 12v motor that spins a few gears. As was said in the previous post it sounds like bad contacts if its sporadic. Good luck!

Re: sticky actuators
Had this happen, followed wire to a loose conection . Cut bad conection out works fine.
