Trailer bunk replacement

Looks like I have more work cut out for me this spring than I intended. I pulled the boat out to do some spring cleaning and noticed one side sitting a hair lower on the trailer than the other. Taking a closer look and I see this...

Sure enough the wood is slowly collapsing on the one side. Since I have to replace one, you can bet I'm going to replace all the bunks and be done with it. I started working last night. Treated 4x4s and galvanized hardware so far. I'm going to sand some edges down and cover with carpet tomorrow night.

The two main bunks on this trailer are huge. They measure 11ft x 10" x 3.5"

Last year one of the member's used the bunk wrap product and was really happy with it. You might check it out?

Caliber Bunk Wrap is on amazon. There is a complete bunk board wrap and a slide that goes on the wood. The member last year used just the slide version

Did a quick Google search and found this: Caliber Trailer Bunk Wraps

Wish I had time to wait and order that but I need to get this thing done this weekend or I may not have another chance for a month or so! I got some pretty generic black bunk carpet from Academy sports here and am going to double layer the back half of the big bunks where the boat will do most of its sliding.

Understand. You can always add it later. Search for the post. Thought he said it made a pretty big difference.

As hard as I looked to find the material used in the BunkWrap or Slides product, I cannot get that info. What is the material?

Yea other than 'low friction composite' I don't see any details about the material either. Looks like it comes in a roll so it can't be too hard.

Got the bunks covered in carpet. I beveled and sanded the top edges of the wood before just to make sure there were no sharp edges to push into the hull. I like the black a lot better than grey already!

I double layered the back halves of the main bunks since that should be where most of the sliding happens. The bunk carpet actually feels pretty tough, better than I thought for some stuff I bought at Academy sports.
