Tach problems
I have a 99 Z212 Shabah, had tach serviced by Faria months ago and and now realize tach wont go above 3000 rpms approx., even when speedo says I'm doing over 50 at full throttle. It indicates correct reading at idle tho, anyone have any ideas?

Re: Tach problems
There's a few different things you can try, before sending back to Faria to have them service it again.
1) when it's running, knock on the glass face and see if it changes. My Z250 gauge would occasionally do something similar, and knocking on it would correct the issue. 2) if you have access to the back of the gauge, there's a switch behind there for 4-6-8 configuration. This is basically a way to select which engine is hooked to it. Occasionally, the contacts on the switch can get cruddy, and cause it to read erratically. Take a small screwdriver and cycle through 4-6-8 a few times to clean the contacts, and then set it back where it was. If these don't help, I'd suggest sending it back to Faria and having them take another look at it. |
Re: Tach problems
TY Shabah, I will try the tapping thing soon, I knew about the sw on rear and its set to 8, I have contacted Faria also and await their reply.
