What kind of fuel do you use?
Iv searched a bit and didn't really find a clear answer.
What kind of fuel do you guys run on your Mariah? My previous owner told me he has been using ethanol free gas ever since her has had the boat and he recommended i do to. I have no issue paying a little more for recreational fuel with no ethanol, especially since i barely go thru any gas. |
Re: What kind of fuel do you use?
Been running 87 regular unleaded for 20 years now with no problems.

Re: What kind of fuel do you use?

Re: What kind of fuel do you use?
Valvtect Marine Fuel (non-ethanol)
Last time I filled up it was about $4.49/gal on the water, and about the same on the land (there's only a few stations around that sell non-ethanol gas on the land) |
Re: What kind of fuel do you use?
I run 89 octane ethanol free when I buy fuel on the water from several of the lake marinas. The current cost for 89 octane on the water is $4.45 / gallon. BUT..... I put in 15 gallons of 91 octane ethanol free before I lower the boat into the water for the weekend. The current cost on the 91 is $3.85. Makes a huge difference in performance just mixing 15 gallons of 91 with 30 gallons of 89. As far as 87 octane, I know a lot of guys like it, thats great! In my case, I experience a big fall off in performance. The way I figure it, if I use 40-50 gallons a weekend I spend an extra $16 to enjoy better hole shots and much better top end.
Maybe I'm in the minority on the question of getting the best fuel you can for the engine? Just my opinion, but I always pass on 87 when 89 and 91 are available. |
Re: What kind of fuel do you use?
If I can find it- Ethanol free. If not... I must be in Colorado! Only times I get the BS free fuel I've been out of state. Lake McConaghy had the BS free 87 for 3.95 which was not bad considering my 87 E10 fuel here in Colorado is 3.60...
The big thing I notice is the boats ability to fire up instantly once the ignition is activated. There is a place that sells 93 non ethanol but I don't new the octane nor do I need the nearly $5 per gal price tag. (Maybe before I winterize?) Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk |
Re: What kind of fuel do you use?
Our local FS carries premium ethanol free fuel so that's what I use. It's rare to find that around here.
