Mariah Horns Question
Are horns on all Mariah boats the same? Was the flush mount horn only uses on certain models? Can you still buy them?
|
Hi Doug
I'm not sure what brand they used (i suspect AFI) but they had a mix of flush mount and hidden horns in the different models. West Marine has a good selection and they all wire up in the same fashion. Here's a link to their site: http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs...imary%20Search |
Doug,
Describe to me what the horn looks like, I should be able to identify it. A picture would be great, not sure if that is possible. Best Regards, MariahPD |
I have never seen the actual horn on mine.
I don't know where it's hidden, but it's sound level is pretty pathetic! :shakehead: |
On my Diablo,
It is located on the underside of the helm area (tucked way up there). Pretty much below where the starboard window starts to wrap. Mine is pathetic sounding also. I just use it for fun to bug people on board. :) It works, that is what matters. |
Doug,
I just looked at West Marine's web site and the AFI compact horn w/black cover pn#10023 will work. It is not an exact replacement - I am sure they have changed the looks over the years but it will work. There will be two wires and you will need to put a male bullet connector on the horn wires because the harness will have female bullets to connect the two. I believe the horn is on the stbd. side of the steering rack and helm but I am not positive - it has been a while! See how this work and I will be watching to see if you need more assistance. Mine is hidden up under the helm on the starboard side. It's a little tough to get at but it's doable. Sticking your head in there and having someone hit the horn button should let you find it real quick..

The two types of horns Mariah used were ITC and AFI brands. I have thinking about this since the first post. After working for three boat mfgs. it takes a little while to sort things out in my mind!!

This is the same style my '98 Shabah 182 has that is missing the grill... anything yet on where to find a replacement that will fit over the old holes? My problem has been that the 3 1/4" wide horn doesn't cover the same area that the old one did... Any help will be appreciated...

Air horns
I replaced the original Hi/Low note horns on my Triumphs because they were dead. I bought a set of Hella air horns and never again did i have a problem letting someone know i was there.
When i was working on my electrical problem last week i saw the horn and its location. There would be no problem at all to hook up these horns and their tiny compressor. They come in two and three horn styles. I will be doing this as last week we were pulled over for a safety check and we all got a chuckle out of the Mariahs horns tone, more like someone goosed a duck. Im sure there are many places to get these horns but i get alot of my british car parts at a place called Victoria british in Lenexa Kansas. Listed below is there contact info and part number. You can go online and look at the part also. VictoriaBritish.com 800 255 0088 Part# 10-720 two horn part# 10-708 three horn Brian |

Have you run across Horns that different sounds besides the normal Beep Beep?
I am looking for a one that sounds like the horn on the Submarines that they use for sounding dives, auga auga (sorry don't speak horn language) :) |
Hi djmccormick,
Sounds close enough for me... just hope your Barchetta doesn't recognize the sound and try to dive, dive, dive!!! :rolling_laugh: :rolling_laugh: :rolling_laugh: WetWilly |
Yeah mee too......
My best Friend has a 24ft Lowes Deck Boat, and his horn sounds like its on steroids. Mine sounds better, but I want to get something with a little more unique. |
Re: Mariah Horns Question
I found mine and reconnected it, LOL, it wasn't working without it being plugged into the connector. I have noticed over time, you have to watch those connectors, they do have a tendacy to come loose.
Still looking for an Auuuugahhhhh Horn to replace mine. Mine works, just want something differant. |
Re: Mariah Horns Question
That looks like the AFI horn in my boat, I bought one online for about $37.00 and went to Bass Pro Shops after I received it and found one hanging on the rack for $25.00.

Re: Mariah Horns Question
I am just replacing my horn and it is a little different. I have the AFI Model "L" in my 2001 Z202 Shabah. There are many out there that I could make work, but the one that is pretty much an exact match for me is the Marinco Model # 10706000 from West Marine. Just passing this along for anyone else out there looking...

Re: Mariah Horns Question
OK this might be a stupid question, but is the horn on the steering wheel on my z240? I for the life of me cannot find the horn. I have the hidden horns on the starboard side.

Re: Mariah Horns Question
No, there is a switch on your dash for the horn. If you look in this pic, you'll see it's the last switch on the right next to the steering wheel.

Re: Mariah Horns Question
Look for a rocker switch that returns automatically to its home position (spring loaded). Chances are it's there but the horn isn't working.
|
Re: Mariah Horns Question
no push button for the horn? I could sell you an old used squeeze bulb horn off my bicycle if needed. ;)

Here is my dash. I'm thinking maybe the horn toggle switch was next to the seat control where there is a blank. Anyone have thoughts?

Re: Mariah Horns Question
What's to the left of the wheel? I can see the blower switch and something else. Not sure if it's the "something else" or if there's supposed to be another switch down there...

Re: Mariah Horns Question
I would have said that was it to the left of the seat switch....but what's the one to the right of the seat switch for?
|
Re: Mariah Horns Question
Right of the seat switch is the silent choice for the exhaust.
