Bilge pump float switch
 
Hi, I have a 1999 Shabah Z212 and I noticed that the bilge pump doesnt run when float switch is raised up, I metered the atwood float sw and it measures 106 ohms when raised. Does any one have an idea.

You could take it apart and clean it along with cleaning the connections but its likely just easier to replace it.

Agree with mikey. West marine or overtones has them all day long and they're cheap.

TY for the input, I wasnt sure it was bad with 106 Ohms resistance, the pump runs fine if I turn on the bilge switch., just doesnt run when float sw is activated. my restance reading were right on the 2 wires coming off the switch.

Today I replaced the float switch, still doesnt work, my guess is it never worked and the original owner never knew it. I should have 12v at the sw all the time and I never do, so it has to be the wiring, does anyone know where the 12v comes from.

Your wiring at the bilge pump should be a brown wire, a brown/white wire and a ground wire. The ground is likely at the block on the transom beside the engine. The fuse for the bilge should be a 5 amp one, top row, 4th from the left side up underneath the drivers console. Pull each of the connections at the pump & clean/reconnect them, then i would say to check the ground block on the transom next.

You should also have a constant power from the battery independent of the ignition circuit
Check the fuse in that wire. Also check k to see if you are missing the positive or negative. For example. Test leads don Bart positive at the batter and the negative lead at the pump. And positive lead at the float switch and neg at the battery. That would you if you have a prob in the ground side.or the positive side.
