Default New wood pieces for the boat...

Okay over the last 3 years some of the fake wood (plastic) pieces around the boat have been cracking right down the middle. The first was the radio bezel and the little passenger compartment by the knees and next was the glove box then the dash ice cooler and finally the rear passenger compartments. I could not take it anymore so I had all those pieces plus anything else that was fake wood I could take off made out of oak. My original choice of wood was mahogany but not only was it expensive but there was a fairly long lead time.
So last night I did a mahogany stain and today did my first of 5 coats of varnish. Think they turned out well.
One question however, there are the last 4 pieces that are on the bulkheads, one is purely ornamental in the rear and one has a grab handle on it. Anyone ever take these off before and if so what am I up against?
