Need ice cooler cover
The ice cooler cover on our Mariah 182 Shabah has cracked over the winter. The cover is just a thin plastic veneer over the plastic door. The thin plastic cover over the door has cracked--not the door itself. Any idea how to repair this? Can I just fill the cracks and paint over it? Should I replace the cover ? I can remove the door and disassemble the cover from the door---maybe I can find some vinyl the same color (Light Tan) as the plastic cover and stretch it over the door. Has any one had this problem?

Re: Need ice cooler cover
Bummer Jake.
Option 1: You could fill the cracks with epoxy and use a plastic adhesion promoter on it , then paint with a plastics paint such as "Krylon Fusion". I have used it for exterior plastics on vehicles before with great results. Option 2: Use a waterproof adhesive like "3M Super 77" on both the new vinyl and the cover and glue it. Option 3: Find a new cover piece.:shakehead: That's going to be like finding a needle in a haystack.:( Personally , I'd go for option 1. If you don't like the result , you can always do option 2.:wink_thumbup: |
Re: Need ice cooler cover
Thanks Larry---
I was hoping that I could find a new cover--but like you say, "It's like finding a needle in a haystack". I have a friend who has a body shop. Maybe he has the materials to fix this as you described. |
Re: Need ice cooler cover
Plastic welding might work.
Good idea. |
