New tarps for 180 Diablo
Hey guys! Remember me ? :wink_thumbup:
Before the boat hits the water in June, I'm getting quotes from the marina to get replacement tarps. I have 1 small rip in the bow cover (right where water pools) and where the bow cover meets up at the lower windshield area, rain water pours in along the sides of the walk-through. Also the bow cover is not wide enough to stop rain water from coming under the bow cover. The bimini tarp there is nothing majorly wrong, but it " did " have a fair amount of mold on the lower side that I attempted to wash with Sunlight soap last season. The aft curtain tarp there is really nothing wrong, other that maybe being slightly dirty (no major mold build up). So that would be my main reason for swapping out the bimini and aft curtain tarps (the mold build up). The bimini and aft curtain do not leak. Here is my current tarp setup so you have an idea of what it looks like now: https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8294/...66c60418_h.jpgDSC_1085 by Ryan McNeil, on Flickr Here is the rear tarp: https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8455/...2592a6fe_h.jpgDSC_1164 by Ryan McNeil, on Flickr Now, this idea came as a suggestion from the marina. To add a windshield tarp to the existing and replace the bow tarp as well. The windshield tarp would have Velcro to attach to the bow cover. Sure, I would love to completely redo the tarps from back to front, but I would also like to save some money. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7342/...9031afe5_h.jpgSearay_1750-1 by Ryan McNeil, on Flickr https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5553/...f64727ec_h.jpgSearay_1750-7 by Ryan McNeil, on Flickr This design I would have to add more snaps to the port / starboard sides (and possibly relocating my bow snaps a little bit lower on the hull sides) BUT it would give me coverage at the walk-through from rain. This design for the bow and windshield tarps would be $995 CDN + HST = $1,124.35 Thoughts? Suggestions? Alternate ideas? |

Hey Ryan! Long time no hear from. :)
I wouldn't balk at that price for too long. Just make sure that bow cover tucks under and snaps to the inside bottom of the middle (fold open) glass section or water will run in there, particularly if you are caught out running in the rain. |

I have 3 snaps on the inside of the fold open glass section and that is where a majority of the rain water streams in from. The bow tarp does not hold the water, it becomes "the lowest point" and that is where the water goes. The rubber seal on the folding window that is supposed to meet with the bow cover also seems like it was cut at some point (not by me) and now it is too short. The covers were replaced a few years prior to me purchasing the boat in 2006 and I think whoever did the bow cover, did not allow enough material to cover the bow properly. |

Again, another option. |

Like this? My cockpit cover snaps on, zippers & velcros at the attachment to the bow cover. I've also got a bimini top that has side & front windows along with a full back 'camper' style cover as seen in the 3rd pic. Btw, how is the water levels up on Sparrow?

Re: New tarps -
Well, my Diablo FINALLY received some new tarps this week ! :rolling_laugh: (mods - if someone could adjust the the title to remove the aka help, that would be appreciated)
Rather that start a new thread, I wanted to continue where I left off last year. I have always known I had to have the tarps done and I finally dropped the cash to get them replaced and hopefully keep the rain water out of the boat. I was having issues with the rain water entering the boat right at the bow walk through. There was also a bit of mould growth on the underside of the main bimini tarps. I had them go over the bow rails to prevent the water from hitting the bow and running down and inside the bow. The stock location of the bow tarp allowed water to run down and inside the bow. These aren't my photos, and I haven't seen it yet, but so far I'm liking the results. One of the buttons seems out of place on the starboard side, but I'm sure I will live with it.. lol. Here is the webpage link to where I had my cover done. Maybe help someone with a new cover or vinyl repairs.
