Who made trailers for Mariah Boats in 1994?
Buying insurance coverage for the 1994 Z240 Talari and trailer. A question came up yesterday from the insurance company about the brand name of the trailer? I won't have the title until Friday so I can't see the name the maker if it's on there.
I have a full 17-digit VIN ( bill of sale) which he said might tell him the "MIC"??? He said its a "code" of some kind? The first 4 digits of the trailer VIN are 1L8T. The trailer is a tandem axle and looks like galvanized aluminum. Fairly heavy duty construction with surge brakes. Any ideas or suggestions on how to identify the maker? |

'Chariot' & "Prestige" were the original trailer suppliers and both have disappeared from the business world. But do you know if the trailer under your boat is the original?

Yes, it came with the boat when was purchased in the summer of 1994. The previous owner said it was used for the first 3 years of its life, then only a few times since 1997. He stores his trailers by hanging them in a building with chains and a pulley system.

Re: Who made trailers for Mariah Boats in 1994?
Yours could be one of two manufacturers, since it falls in a transition period.
Chariot (Mariah's in-house trailer company) began full production around 1995, and ceased production in late 1997. Heritage Trailers were producing them before that time (as evidenced by photos in the 1994 Mariah Brochure). Heritage is still in business, you may be able to contact them for more information. Heritage Trailers 10764 Industrial Park Road Benton, IL 62812 618-439-9626 Let us know how it turns out! And I'd love to see a photo of this trailer storage method, never heard anything like that before. |

Re: Who made trailers for Mariah Boats in 1994?
Just found out the trailer is officially a 1995 model according to the Vin ( insurance guy told me), but it came under the boat in June of 1994. Now I'm confussed if it's even a Chariot or a whatever............? I guess they will still insure it as an unknown maker because I got a binder for both boat and trailer tonight. Still confused, but I will keep digging for an answer.

Out of curiosity, because I'm currently shopping, who did you choose and what did they quote you for insurance and did you get total hull protection or just liability? Progressive quote $384/yr for my 99 shabah 202

Re: Who made trailers for Mariah Boats in 1994?
Mariah used Prestige Trailers once Chariot went under, from late 1997 until Mariah went out of business in 2001. Prestige continued to make their trailers (using what appeared to be Chariot's original design) until they closed up shop a few years ago, and all their assets were sold back to Heritage. Kind of like a gigantic circle!
I'm guessing your trailer is a Heritage brand. You should give them a call and see if they can at least verify the VIN is one of theirs. Any pics? This might help too... |
Re: Who made trailers for Mariah Boats in 1994?
Stayed with current agent and he was spot-on with price. I went with full coverage on the boat and trailer. Also took towing, medical, 300K liablility.........paid $238 annual. Don't really want to name the company here, but the commericals often say something like "Did you know that not all accidents involving animals are covered....." and " It's what you dont know that will hurt you....." Just glad I am covered before tomorrow. Thanks everyone!
