2001 Shabah 238 Cuddy Hatch
Does anyone know where to buy the cuddy hatch/window that is on the top of the cuddy? The hinge broke on mine but was still useable until someone decided to open it while going down the lake. It then slammed all the way back and shattered. I haven't had any success finding the correct window/hatch for my boat. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Boy.......glass can be a real PITA to find! :(
Is the frame still straight? Might be easiest to have a new piece custom made than find one. I know that the windsheilds and side glass were all made by Taylor , but I don't know if they made the hatches or not. Might try contacting them. http://www.taylormarine.com/ |
Re: 2001 Shabah 238 Cuddy Hatch
The frame is still in good shape but every other part is pretty munched trashed. The plexiglass, latch and shock are all destroyed. I'll try to email Taylor Marine and see what they say.

Might measure the OD and hole size and look around on the net as well.
Here are a few I found at GLS. Good start anyway.:wink_thumbup: |
Re: 2001 Shabah 238 Cuddy Hatch
BOMAR also made the hatches for Mariahs. Look on the window itself and see if there's any indication of the manufacturer. Bomar will usually have a logo on the lower corner of the window. Their exterior frames are usually black.
Taylor Made usually have the silver exterior frames, and will have the glass etched with their logo in the lower corner. There are also black plastic caps on the exterior of the window (hinge covers), and they'll usually have the Taylor Made logo on them too. Just get the measurements of the hatch. That'll give you a great starting point. Replacement parts can be ordered thru the manufacturers, but expect to pay top dollar. Most boat supply warehouses like West Marine carry (or can order) hatches, and places like Great Lakes Skipper carry OEM original parts at discounted prices. Check Ebay for some good deals too! |
Re: 2001 Shabah 238 Cuddy Hatch
I leave my boat at our place down at Lake Cumberland in KY so I cant easily inspect it for a manufacture stamp. I did however take measurements when I was down there winterizing it. It measures 18 3/4" X 18 3/4" on the outside of the boat. The current hatch has a black frame so it must be the BOMAR brand. I'll check them out on the web and see what they have. Thanks for all the help thus far.
