Boat Name Vinyl Placement

Does anyone have pics of their boat names and where they are placed? I wanted to do a nice arch on the back of the boat with the name, but I feel the gas filler would interfere. There is about 40" of space to the left of it that would work with a straight line name, but I wanted to get ideas first. 95 Davanti 225.

If it's any help, when I was doing my Mariah I lightly drew my idea on with pencil. It wiped right off with glass cleaner.

a local guy does vinyl lettering and sent me a couple ideas in email...its tough bc of that gas filler there...I was just getting ideas of where people put the names on their boats and what size and whatnot...Dredd do you have pics?

Is the snap in carpet standard on the back of the z302's? It sure fixes the slip hazard.

Yeah but mine didn't have some of the challenges that yours has.
When it's on the water you're typically looking more down at it, so the ladder wasn't as in the way as it seems from this perspective.

A couple thoughts.

I do vinyl work on the side, and my professional opinion is to stick around your stainless rails. You could do above like Dredd's first pic, you'll have an inch or two extra for height. Although, below the stainless rails might be your best option, if you can split your words around the shield logo. With the small area on the right, you could have enough space to add a "Port of..." decal if you wanted to do that.

I think making a rounded arch would be too complicated and would be too busy looking, especially with the shield, inlaid Mariah script, and the fuel tank vent.

And snap in carpet on the swim deck was not standard or an option. Oregondunes added that :)

I got mine done through Overton's. You just need length and height measurements of the area you want to fill. When you input the name with the measurements they will give you a mock picture of what it will look like. If I remember correctly the site will make adjustments for font and style of letter. It worked out pretty good for me.

Let's see if the pic attaches. If it doesn't work you can see my boat pics under my posts. "New to the Owners Club" HAHA it worked!

Eric ,
You got a bigger pic? I'm old.
Just messin' with ya!
Can you resize it?

EricG 08-22-2013 05:22 AM

Re: Boat Name Vinyl Placement

I'm not sure how to resize it. If you click on my name and go to my posts you can see the original post under "New to the Owners Club" I have a bunch of pics there. Until I figure out the resizing that'll have to work.

I find that this boating is a sickness! I have only had my Z255 since the beginning of June and I want to go bigger and faster already. I think I will install some Corsa Captains call on her this spring and see if that calms me down for a few years. The guy at Corsa said it would be around $1700 for a kit depending on if they need to make any special bends. I think it will be more like $2500 because the boat doesn't have much room. I may have to go with the side exit exhaust.

Did you just cut it and then have the edges bound? Then install the snaps yourself?

Hey EricG, My Z255 came with through hull exhaust and I can't imagine not having it. The 454 sounds so good.
You will love it. If you need me to take some pictures, let me know.
