I like our layout.. we ended up with extra cup holders because of it lol. Also....only skinny sun bathers fit on it too lol

It's easier to get in and out since the bottoms of the seats are removable... so I guess that's a plus

I didn't think the price of gas (or petrol to give it it's correct name )
was such an issue over the pond.
I would have thought the 4.3 was a much more popular package.
It is here even with the price of "PETROL!"

I haven't seen any sales numbers but i have a buddy who sells boats for a living. His comment was that he only sells boats with 4 bangers to "old people, neurotic people and to those who are afraid of stopping at fuel pumps". Personally i wouldn't consider a boat with the 3.0 unless it was smaller than the 18' i have now. For me, sipping fuel is its only benefit.

Well.. the local Glastor dealer has 7 new boats that just came in. 5 of which were 3.0l, with the cost to enter into boating, especially with the added cost for fuel injection.. I can understand why they have so many in stock. Most of the "newer" (as in the age of the boat) boat owners i know either have 3.0 or 4.3 motors. They sell lots of pontoon boats and bass boats in this area as well. Don't get me wrong, I would love to own a new boat with a V8... but the price to pay is to high for us. So I guess I would have to fall under the "poor & neurotic" category :P

I wouldnt buy a bigger boat with this motor though. It would have to be a 4.3 or bigger

Nick, rather than posting numerous posts with one or two sentences then immediately following up with another post on the same subject, why dont you simply edit your previous post and add in your latest thoughts?

That's why it was only offered on the 18's. A conservative general rule is:

    16-18ft: 3.0L
    18-20ft: 4.3L
    21+: V8

My first boat was a 180 Sea Ray with the 4.3L and it was the perfect combo. It handled pretty decent top speeds, watersports, my fat friends, and I never felt like it was underpowered. My friend had a 18' Stingray with the 3.0L, and it would do pretty good with just about everything, but was a little sluggish when tubing. Just don't let the V8 bug bite ya too hard... He did, and his next boat was a 24' Baja with a 502 Mag... That boat would do 72mph and it scared the ever-living $hit out of me every time I rode in it. When we were doing 70mph on the river and the wind caught us under the bow and damn near stood us straight up in the air at that speed, that was when I decided speed wasn't for me, and I'm perfectly happy with a boat that'll do 30-40 tops.

Hahaha! this is a small world.
    Here's my mate's 18' stingray/3.0L and I agree with the above statement

The one thing I will add about the power from the 3.0L is it doesn't have the punch to get the boat out of the water.
