I took her up the docks
So today I went out in the boat for the first time since the engine rebuild.
Headed out of the river Hamble into the worst kind of Solent chop! This is a local Phenomenon where the wind over tide causes a short and steep sea condition! Very unpleasant.... channel 16 was going nuts with people getting into trouble, so with an untested engine under the hatch I thought I had better not push my luck! So for a change I went up through Southampton docks, just to show you guys that's its not all quant villages and country houses on quiet rivers in my cruising grounds. :D http://i681.photobucket.com/albums/v...630_144252.jpg http://i681.photobucket.com/albums/v...630_144735.jpg http://i681.photobucket.com/albums/v...630_145228.jpg http://i681.photobucket.com/albums/v...630_150317.jpg http://i681.photobucket.com/albums/v...630_145641.jpg Engine ran sweet, never pushed it too hard but I stretched it's legs a little On my way back I bumped into these guys http://i681.photobucket.com/albums/v...630_165012.jpg |

Re: I took her up the docks
Ok so had to do a little house keeping!
Youtube didn't like the fact that I had a certain singers name in the title of that video :shakehead: you know the one, she's all over you're internet searches when looking at "good" boats :wink_thumbup: So just an update after the engine rebuild. Didn't run it hard and I went out with quite a soft prop on (Michigan wheel 14 1/4"x21" 3 blade ali prop) Engine ran without fault, once i'd finally got it started on the slipway! air lock in fuel line... reving nice and free but the prop was cavitating above 3700rpm (not enough bite) dispite how it looks there was quite a breeze blowing and this unsettled the boat a couple of times when trimmed out, again down to the prop choice! should be much better back on the stainless 22"x 14" 3 blade viper prop I usually run still managed to see 40/45mph on the gps All in all a good shake down test |

Re: I took her up the docks
Boy they sure let you guys haul @ss around those cargo vessels across the pond! That whole area would be an idle only zone over here!
Looking good! :wink_thumbup: |
Re: I took her up the docks
Yeah but it swings both ways,
The only large expanse of fresh water we have is the lake district and all of that is restricted to 10mph! :shakehead: Takes me about 2 hours to put the boat away after every use in the salt water |
