Check your trailer tires!!!!!!!!
This past Saturday,I was cleaning up our Mariah 240z,and just finished up and walked past the trailer and noticed a large chunk of rubber missing from one of our tires!Upon further inspection realized that 2 other tires were badly dry rotted in between the tread! On a frenzy as I desperatley needed to get some some tires before Sunday,as we were going to Smith Moutain Lake,I was able to find 3 trailer tires in Lynchburg and had them replaced,,,Just a word of caution to do a pretrip on your trailer before going boating,,,,:eek_animated:

On a similar note. How often does everyone change their trailer wheel bearings (repack or replace)?

Re: Check your trailer tires!!!!!!!!
I put Stainless Bearing buddies on mine and almost always grease them after every trip to make sure no water is in them.
I also found a really cool tire carrier that holds a spare hub. Granted the one I found isn't for a 6 lug - but I plan on adding one of these to my trailer - as a hub failure could occur while on the road, and could be harder to locate than a tire. Here is a link to the Carrier i'm talking about: Tie Down 86079 Spare Tire & Hub Carrier - Springs & Tire Carriers by Discount Marine Supplies I think I will build my own Nick |
