Re: Open Bimini

I don't use the trailer, the boat is on a lift at my dock. The previous owner delivered it with the top up and in the zippered bag, and it didn't get any damage. But I would not recommend that if you are driving more than a couple miles. If I trail it someday, I will take off the top.

The issue for me is that I always use the custom-fitted full cover and that would not fit with the Bimini on the boat at all when I got it. The cover was simply too tight (which I like). Rather than having to take it off the boat every time I put on the cover, I moved it from atop the rails to the sides like yours. I think mine is a couple inches farther out.

I bought mine off eBay from a seller named Boatarama. Don't know of they still exist, but it was only $128 including the rear supports.

I bought from national tops a 36" for mine. Originally got a 54 and it was too tall. The 36 has a solid strut rear. Mounts in factory brackets on my 95 272z

I'm assuming you have yours mounted on the glass?

Re: Open Bimini

Yes it's mounted on mounts that were already on the chrome around the glass. That's why 54 inch was way way too tall.

Yeah 54" is really tall, I think mine sits high to and I have it mounted on the base not on the glass.

Re: Open Bimini

I would like to mount the Bimini on the glass but I'm kind of worried it may damage the glass frame with the wind while boating on the lake, cause I don't have factory mounts. I would like to lay it straight back and have the 36, but then again the 36 might sit just as high on the glass as the 46 I have mounted on the base. So I don't know it's a catch 22

So, I noticed your new top is 72" long. Is that long enough to cover your open cockpit area, or would long work better?

Seems to cover pretty well. Shades from the windshield to most of the rear seat. Big enough for us. You can get under it from the sundeck. If it were longer you would have to maneuver a little bit under it coming on board.

A Diablo Outboard! Don't see many of them around.

Man i miss my diablo. I think an outboard would be handy here on the ohio river. I can't wait till we get back on the water. I have a rinker project that i adopted a few years ago, but i think I'm just going to take the 350 mag and outboard and set it aside for a future mariah

I almost bought a black and pearl one back in 93 or 94. Was going to put my 115 Johnson on it.

Re: Open Bimini

I posted the picture of the red and white outboard Diablo. I have only seen one other listed online. I did a lot of reading about origional Mariah's and thought they would be a good option. This one is very clean and the engine runs smooth (212 hours). I have a place on Lake Winnabego Wisconsin which is shallow, thus the need for an outboard. The price was right so took. flyer on it but have not had it in the water. Has anyone owned the OB Diablo and can tell me more about the outboard model. They and info on them is scarce.
