Default Stern Powerlight

Mine doesn't raise. Anyone try repairing these or is it better to find a replacement?

Thanks!

First, check and make sure it's a motorized version. Sometimes (in the case of my Z280), the motorized version was replaced somewhere along the line with a manual "Extend-a-light" version. You may need to pull it up by hand. Easy way to tell is to hang your head under the stern and look at the light housing. If it's got 3 wires, it's a powered version, and it may be dead, or you may be able to repair it yourself. If it's just got 2 wires, then it's a manual version.

To the best of my knowledge, the manufacturer no longer produces these, and finding them is pretty tricky. You'll have to do some heavy researching, as most places no longer have them in stock. Occasionally you can find a retailer that has some, but the majority of them are just the manual Extend-a-light versions. They range in price from $99-$250. However, you may be able to contact the factory directly and see if they have any recommendations.

I opened up the unit and it turned out to be a broken ground wire connection. Soldered a new piece in to join the contact to the original wire and now it works! Thanks for the info.
