question on the origin of "Shabah"
I apologize if this had already been covered.
Question is: What does "Shabah" stand for? What language does it originate from? I appreciate the creativity of Mariah's marketing department. John |

Re: question on the origin of "Shabah"
This is from one of my last emails with the late Jimmy Fulks when we were discussing the origins of the "Shabah" name:
=== During Desert Storm the Iraq soldiers referred to the F-117 as the Shabah “the Invisible Ghost”. Stealthy, invisible, unseen . . .deadly! Shabah (Islamic Mythology), also Shaba! In Saudi Arabia, the name used for the F-117A was Shabah, the Arabic word for "spectre" or "ghost." There are other meanings in other languages! Hebrew: Captive … captor to take captive Also: Torture! - “Shabah,” a standard Israeli procedure for dehumanizing prisoners. After being handcuffed and having their feet chained, they are forced to sit in a tilted small chair tied to the ground, leaving them totally unable to move. They are then hooded with a filthy small bag which is very hard to breathe through. Meanwhile, very loud music blasts overhead. This is obviously not what the boat is named after, but interesting :) === |
