Floor construction on a 1998 z255

On my 255 shabah the right side of the cockpit floor seems loose like floor rot but the boat is well kept. I tightened all the bolster bolts to check for rot but they all tightened fine. No access to that section of floor to check unless I cut it out. Anyone know how the floor on my boat under the captains seat is cunstructed? I am freaking out!

Here is a link to a good write up with pics from one of our members (Provo) who had to replace his floor. Yours will be similar in layout.

Note that the seat mount bolts are screwed into a 12" x 12" aluminum plate that is sandwiched between the layers of your floor. Thus, the seat may tighten up but the section of flooring may have a problem.

And here are a few pics from one of the brochures showing the flloor build-up.

Re: Floor construction on a 1998 z255

Thank you for the info. Would it be the same on mine since the 98 z255 has a gelcoated floor with no carpet? It has no access to see under the floor at that point but i could use a in floor cooler on that side though? So to not ruin the gelcoat floor, maybe a couple stainless screws to pull the floor back together? Is it a wood floor or composite?
