Faria depth Transducers
 

I’ve been pocking around, trying to get to the bottom of my erratic depth readings.
Can anybody tell me if the transducers are supposed to be bonded to the hull?

The previous through hull transducers I’ve encountered have been bonded to the inside of the hull, but this one is different. There is a ring that is bonded to the hull and the transducer locks into the ring. Now my understanding of these things is that there needs to be a solid bond between the bottom of the transducers and the hull...
Is my setup correct?

I believe that type has an oil between the transducer and the hull. Mine is bonded and it's still erratic.

A quick Google on "oil bath transducers" has answered a lot of questions.
