fuel pump service

I have a 1996 Z252, Shabah fuel injected with a 7.4 liter motor. I was just winterizing it and noticed a plug on the side of the fuel pump housing above the water pump and below the fuel pump. Is there something I need to do with it? This pump setup is driven with a belt on the front of the motor, that runs the raw water pump and the fuel pump. It looks like it might have oil in it, but I didn't take the plug out.

Hey Reed , Welcome to MOC :)
I am not real clear on the area you have in question. Is it where the fuel/water seperator is? Or is it on the fuel pump bracket itself?
Can you shoot a pic of it?

Once Again , Welcome!

I have a Z240 and it has the same st up. You are suppose to put oil in it to keep the manual fuel pump arm lubricated. I replaced my manual pump with an electric pump and it cranks within about 1 rev.

Thanks for the response. Do you have any idea what weight oil? I looked at it today and the sticker on it says read the manuel. (no manuel) I assume that you fill to the bottom of the hole. As to the other response, it is pretty hard to understand what I am talking about without seeing it. But on my boat the fuel pump and the water pump are run by the same pulley off the front of the boat with the water pump being on the bottom and the fuel pump on the top.

Hey Reed finally figured it out after looking at manual for your 7.4 :)
You need to fill with Merc/Quicksilver Hi performance gear lube.

That's not the same oil that you use in a bravo 3 out drive is it. I have a couple of quarts of that.
