Question A little help here...

Good morning everyone. I have what sounds like to me is a stupid noob kinda question. BUT Ima gonna ask it anyway.

Is the horn attached to the little red button on the right side of the steering wheel next to the cigarette lighter on my 1996 180 Shabah?

IF so....

Where is the physical horn? I have no grill or visible location on the outside of the boat and I would like to replace the entire mechanism since it's not currently working. Is it a thru hull horn located somewhere up in the bow?

Any help appreciated!!

Check under the dash just up and to the right for the horn. A lot of them are there.
I would venture to say that the red button is your horn button since your kill switch is visible on the left.
Is it a momentary switch? If yes...gotta be your horn.
Replacement of mine is also on the list of "to do things". It just isn't loud enough and sounds like a dying seal or something.

    Thanks Larry!

I looked up there in the process of installing the lights and stereo. I did find the super secret fuse block location, is it up behind the dash in that area (towards the bow) or is it back the other way towards the side of the dash or even further towards the throttle?

Yep, the horn is up behind the fuse block area next to the hull. Its tough to see & to reach unless you remove the drivers side kick board so that you can see up in there. Mine sounds crappy too, kinda like someone suffering from limited vocal chords.... gotta get one of those old "aaahhhooooggggaaaaa" horns or a truckers air horn some day.

I've attached a pic where u can just see the black horn to the lower left of the fuse block.

As always thanks for your help Mikey, I wish mine sounded bad, or weak or something, but no sound at all is not only non-compliant it's unacceptable.

    Thanks again!

My guess would be that a loose or corroded connection is the culprit.....either at the horn or at the push button.
