Fuse Block Location

OK, I know it's been a topic of conversation previously, but this is a different angle. I know where my fuse block is, I have actually studied it in great detail, thanks to Mikey I now have a pretty good idea what everything is and where it goes. (THANKS AGAIN Mikey)

My question is this, it HAS to be located in THE most GOD awful, PAIN in the (*^(&^% location any fuse block has ever been located. I plan on owning this boat forever and will - bit by bit - rehab, replace, update, modify and tweak each component and system. This process will include replacing the old fuse block with a newer, more reliable blade type block and while in that process I'd like to move the fuse block to a more convenient location to reach and replace fuses and add/modify systems.

My worry (after pondering this for a couple days now) is this, did they intentionally place it where it is (up under the drivers side window in the highest point in the hull) by design? The LEAST likely place to ever get wet/submerged?

I would figure if I had water up to the side of the helm I'd have lots more to worry about than replacing a few wires but I am wondering, has anyone done this? (Moved the fuse block to a better, easier location to reach and service?)

Thanks all!
