Shrunk mooring cover

Any ideas how to stretch out a mooring cover?

How has it shrunk? My mooreing cover is made out of sunbrella fabric , is yours?

Re: Shrunk mooring cover

Im not really sure how it shrank. The original owner of the boat told me he never used the cover, instead he always covered using the full cover. I believe it is sunbrella fabric. The width lacks about an inch and the length about the same from making it easy to install.
I thought about getting as many snaps as possible snapped and then adding some weight to the top of the cover.

I would say the original owner of the boat provided you with a cover that was for a smaller boat.

Maybe get it warm & wet, snap on as many as possible then add weights or stretch up from the inside.

are you talking cockpit cover or mooring cover, which some of us may refer to one that hangs over side a bit??? If yo are talking the tight fitting cockpit cover and bow type, try draping it out side over your deck on a sunny hot day with some weights clamped on it

Weighing it down might work on a good hot day. I've been told your only option is to have a "vinyl seamstress" (for lack of a better term) alter it to extend it to fit. But you say it's only an inch short - so I'm thinking you should be able to stretch it. Did he have the windshield replaced? My cover fits on the sides and back, but will not stretch to the bottom of the front of the windshield. It's a good 3 or 4 inches short, so I wonder if the windshield wasn't replaced at some point.

All else fails....try these.

Handi-Man Extend-A-Snap - Handi-Man Marine 560261 - iboats

My canopy cover and my bow cover was short also , so I understand what you are trying to do. I ended up moving the snaps and using marinetex with a little gelcoat repair color to fill the holes.
Can't see the fill holes at all.
Just a thought :)

Thanks for the replies. I did state mooring cover incorrectly ,it is a cockpit cover. It is short on length and width. I think I will try snapping, wetting and adding weight. Will let you know how it works.

The original cover that came with our 220 Talari was the heavy vinyl cover and was very tight to snap on!!! It was very tight fit on a moderately hot day and nearly impossible to snap in place on a cool day! Try leaving the cover sitting in hot sun for a few hours. If it is the vinyl type I think you will be surprised how much it may stretch.
Good Luck!!
