Question?? Do I have to remove the motor to change the coupler??

I have a jubalee 244z with a 7.4 mpi mercruiser and I need to take the motor out to change the coupler. There isnt enough room to pull the motor out as a unit do i have to disassemble the motor in the boat to get the motor out or will it come out if you turn it sideways? Does anyone have any information on this or has anyone come across this before??

The engine was installed while it was fully assembled so there has to be a way to get it out fully assembled. More than likely you need to remove some panels and cross supports to get enough access. Can you post pictures of the engine compartment?

Yes it does need to be removed to repair the coupler. But the engine won't need to be disassembled, just the interior. I'm assuming your has a fiberglass lip molded above it, like the photo below?

The easiest thing to do, is to unmount the engine off the mounts and then move it forward and lift slowly until it clears the lip and can be safely removed.

This is a job best left up to the pros.
