Help Needed/Appreciated battery wires

Hey ya'll,

I have a 2000 Shabah 202 and am in the process of adding a second(house) battery. I have just about all the wires separated as to which ones go to the starting battery and the ones that will go to the house battery. I have come to 4 wires that are positive wires and i am not sure what they go to. They all have an inline fuse with a 5 amp fuse in each one. I have attempted to trace them but after so far, i lose sight of them. They are in a loom and run to the back of the boat and then back towards the front like towards the console area. I have checked all accessories that i can think of and so far everything works. Does anybody have a clue as to what these wires may be for? Thanks for your time.

This might sound silly, but have you tried unplugging each positive connector one by one and seeing what doesn't work? That is what I have had to do in my boat...

Ditto! Did the same on mine so I can find the hatch and bilge pump which should be the only ones you need hooked up directly to your battery.

I just traced my wires also and if I remember correctly, One of the fused wired went to an unused 9 hole connector behind the throttle/shifter. I traced it with a "Tone" tracer. I could only see the connector by removing the stereo bezel and using a mirror ( I didn't want to remove the throttle). The other fused wire went to the automatic bilge pump (brown/grey?) I don't have a power hatch.

Re: Help Needed/Appreciated battery wires

thanks guys, i have tried removing them one by one and so far everything on my dash toggle/accessories are working. I have not had the boat out on the water to verify if everything is working. 2 of the wires are red in color. They are not quite as thick as a speaker amp wire. 1 is a little smaller in diameter and is orange in color. The last one is slightly smaller and is brown with a white stripe if this helps anyone. Thanks again!

Brown with white stripe is for the bilge pump. my orange was cut off so not sure what it is for (Help here anyone?). see my previous post on this thread for other fused red wire.

were all these attached to the main power at your starter? Thats where is appears mine are linked(all four bolted on) at? Im grateful for your description since I too was wondering if I needed to separate these here and relocate them to the house battery side when I separate, but I think I will leave them so they are connected to the Engine battery instead.

Thanks,

Re: Help Needed/Appreciated battery wires

Thanks guys,
Rayzor, my bilge pump is working without these wires attached to the battery. I wouldn't have guessed that one of these wires would run to the throttle/selector switch. The throttle is cable operated correct? What would the wire be for?
Zack, I have traced these 4 wires from the battery. They run into a wire loom to the back wall of the hull. They then run back up the starboard side and towards the driver console area, i assume. I can only see the wires for so long before losing sight of them.

Does your throttle/selector have the trailering tilt switch on it, if so then this live feed might be for it.

yes, my throttle lever does have the trailer tilt switch on it. I just thought about that after going out to look again. thanks for the heads up.

I didn't actually look at the back of the lever assembly. Do you know how many wires come from it. The 4 wires that i am talking about with
the inline fuses do not look factory because the inluse fuse wire assemblies are not the same color and there are butt connectors.

The connecor behind the throttle has no male end connected to it... It dead ends at the female connector. I could only see it with a mirror through the hole after removing the stereo bezel. My 4 wires didn'tlook factory either. One (Brown/White) went to the bilge pump, the other to the unused connector behind the throttle. There are 4 wires on the starter also which I thought was incorrect, but turns out some jumped to the battery there. I replaced the alternater wire with one to an Isolator for a two battery system to keep them both charged. Hope this helps you can call me at 479-221-6827 if you want.
