Exclamation Adding additional battery help

hey guys,
I have a 2000 shabah 202 which originally came with one battery. I took the boat out this past weekend and ended up running the stereo a little too long. Fortunately we packed a battery jumper box for backup. I have been seriously considering adding a "house" battery and wanted to know who all has done the same. I see one specific place for the one battery and am curious as to where the best location for the additional battery will be. I have seen the Blue Sea add a battery kit and really like that kit. I just wanted to hear from others that have added a second battery to a boat that originally came with only 1 and how in depth was this install for you? Thanks for the tips/heads up.

Default Re: Adding additional battery help

I did the same and in fact added 2 additional batteries due to the amount of accesories I added and for fuure expansion. I can run my stereo, GPS/fishfinder and LED's until the cows come home and still have a good battery to start with.
Is not that difficult if you just think about what your needs are as well as what your current demand is. I don't have any pictures of my batteries but here is a generic drawing I made of my system. I also just installed the Add-A-Battery to my Lund Fishing boat and it was a simple install. However, for my Z222 I designed the electrical from scratch using components purchased seperately.
I have a few post on here as well as other members that detail the components and installation process. I would be happy to answer any specific questions you may have. The most important parts of this is the wire sizing, grounding and keeping critical services I.E. Bilge pump, electric hatch (if applicable) on the main battery. Good luck
