Trim and Tach Troubles
My trim gauge hasn't worked properly since I bought my boat. I was told to replace the "trim sending unit". Any idea where I can find one for a bravo 3 outdrive? Has anyone else had a problem with this? Also, my RPM gauge isn't working correctly...it seems to do great up to 3000 rpm, then it falls to 0. Should I replace the gauge, or is there some other issue that I should attend to?

Re: Trim and Tach Troubles
If you search the forum, you will find a lot of people have issues with their trim gauges.... There are steps to replace and adjust them. As for the tach, if you get under the dash (not sure where your access is, there is a wheel that has 4, 6, and 8 on it. This correllates to your number of cylinders in your engine. Sometimes they get a little corroded. Give it a spin back and forth then reset it back to 8. This usually fixes them.

Re: Trim and Tach Troubles
As DCB noted, these two questions get asked quite often.
If you have to replace the trim sender unit (assuming attempting to adjust it doesn't work) then i believe you have to remove the outdrive to complete this job. That's why most people just learn to live with a dead trim gauge until they have another reason to remove the outdrive. If you want to try adjusting the sender unit, here's a link on How To... DCB's advice on the tach should work but i would also check the connections to ensure they are clean & well grounded. |
