Looking at a 98 Shabah Z255
Hello!!! Were currently on the market for a boat. We recently sold our 21.5 four winns sundowner and wanted something a bit larger. We found a 1998 Z255 that seems to fit us very well. Very low hours (52) and has the 7.4 mpi Bravo III drive. Boat never sat in the water and comes with a matching trailer. I read all about what happened to the ownership group etc. My main question is the parts for the boat. I know the engine and drive wont be an issue but was just concerned with the boat itself. Price is pretty steep - Owner is asking $18900
Anything specific to look for on the Z255? Does anyone have any pics of the interior of there z255 they could send me just to compare? Thanks |
Re: Looking at a 98 Shabah Z255
Welcome cudaah. I dont recall too many members with Z255's but hopefully someone here has one & can help out with pics. The Z255 weighs approx 4950lbs dry, has an 85 US gal / 322 litre fuel tank & a drive down draft of 38". The usual stuff applies to one of these boats. Make sure all of the electrics work properly, get a copy of the service history to review, ensure the interior is clean & well maintained and that no parts are missing. Above all a water test is almost mandatory to confirm performance of the boat & you might even want to consider a marine survey to ensure the condition. Electrical & mechanical parts are not a problem. Interior trim pieces / consoles / original seats and glass are difficult to find but in reality that would apply to just about any boat over 8-10 yrs old.

Re: Looking at a 98 Shabah Z255
Thanks for the response. This website has so much useful info. Do you by chance know what the deadrise is? Was the fiberglass stringer system used on this or was it started in 1999? Thanks

Re: Looking at a 98 Shabah Z255
Transom deadrise is 22 degrees. The 1998 brochure states that Mariah used a 'foam filled glass stringer floor grid system which replaced the Douglas fir- XL grade system used up until the 1998 model year production'.

Re: Looking at a 98 Shabah Z255
Love the boat!!! One question I have is does anyone know how to access the water storage for the sink? I see a couple panels that could be removed but not sure how to remove them. Do I just pull on them? I see something that looks like buttoms and just dont want to pry them off. Thanks
