has this happened to you or can you tell me what happened to me?.. my girl and i were cruising thru the marina water ways in HB, CA. at a very low speed of about 5MPH.. when i attempted to speed up a tiny bit..the engine began to make sounds like it wanted to stall. so i lowered the throttle back down...i throttled back up and it did it over and over again. so i left it at a very low idle so as to make it back to our home port in the marina. when i got in the larger water ways i throttled up and down and found that it cleared and the engine reacted normally...does anyone know why it was choking up like that... i would like to add that i smelled un-burnt fuel coming out of the exhaust. oh and how do i stop that from happening again?

I don't know a whole lot about EFI. Being that it did it at idle, and not at higher RPM, I would look into the timing advance. Sorry I cant help more.

I would start by cleaning the throttle body of any carbon build up by the throttle butterfly valve. If you have a ring of carbon in this area it will not allow air to flow properly past the butterfly while the ECM is adding additonal fuel...hence the smell of unburned fuel. Use a sensor safe cleaner and a soft cloth and tooth brush to make it hospital clean. Let us know if this works or not and we can move on from there.
